By [livejournal.com profile] my_fair_kadie's request, the netbook sleeve I finished knitting and felting on Friday. It's not very interesting, I suspect :)

It's about an inch too long, but the perfect width. Still need to figure out a closure; in that picture, the opening is on the right-hand end.

All hail enjoyably low-key holidays.

I woke up, opened all my Farmville presents, ate pancakes with brown sugar, talked to my mom and dad, and watched part of Love Actually, one of my favorite Christmas movies. Then Dan woke up, we opened the presents Santa left us (I got a box of fudge and a four-pack of the pre-Christian-Bale Batman movies, to go with my four-pack of Christopher Reeve Superman movies), I finished the movie, ate some leftovers, took a short nap, and watched Die Hard, my other favorite Christmas movie, while I finished knitting and felting a sleeve for my netbook, which turned out really damn well, if I do say so myself.

Then there was dinner, and I am now watching Aliens and working on my brother's blankie.

Good: I finished knitting my dad's hat.
Bad: I'm 99% certain it's too small, so here we go again.
Good: At least it only took about four or five hours last time.

I currently have a whackload of crafty projects with deadlines - revised!

Noting deadlines for my own awareness:
A 2-piece formal: April 10th, estimated (materials and pattern acquired, but not yet started Adding: *kicks self*)
The baby blanket for the WoW-playing coworker: beginning of June completed!
Toirneach #2: beginning of June, preferably sooner :P (materials acquired, not started)
Sekrit Project #1: beginning of June (started; about 2/3 done, then needs assembly)
Sekrit Project #2: November (materials acquired, not started)
My brother's wedding blankie: April 2009 (some materials acquired, not started)

Current projects without deadlines:
random socks, 2 pairs (halfway done with one first sock and one second sock)
Rag!Rogue completed!
Blaze - Body about half done, still need sleeves and yoke once body's done
Cherie Amour - Body's done, need to redo the sleeves top-down. (Difficulty: I don't have size 13 DPNs, nor a willingness to acquire a set, and I only have size 13 needles in my Denise set. I don't much like knitting with anything over size 9 at this point, and even that's stretching. Added: I found an extra size 13 bamboo circ in my needle box.)
Tank top that's been in progress for the better part of a year that I'd really like to finish at some point :P

Rag!Rogue - expected to be done and ready to wet-block by this weekend

Plus there's a whole whackload of patterns I have my eye on that I want to knit, that I'm not letting myself touch until I get somewhere with some of the deadline stuff.

Projects currently on needles:

Miscellaneous socks
Yarn (current pair): KnitPicks Essential Tweed in Aztec Gold
Needles: size 2 KP DPNs
Progress: perpetually on-going (I always have a sock in progress)

Viveka (the first pic is funky, but the later ones are cute)
Yarn: KnitPicks Main Line in Cocoa
Needles: size 4 Clovers
Progress: about 6.5" of body. Currently on hold: need about 18 more balls of yarn to finish.

Easy Lace Duster
Yarn: KP Merino Style in Coal
Needles: size 7 Addis
Progress: Body completed, sleeve 1 80% done, need to finish sleeves and assemble.

Flirty Ruffles shawl
Yarn: Jaggerspun Zephyr in Copper
Needles: size 3 Addis
Progress: chart 6 of ...9, I think? Probably about 70% done, roughly.

Projects in mind:
DreamRogue
Yarn: KP Merino Style in Vanilla, Butternut, Cinnamon and either Moss or Storm.
Needles: size 7 Addis, I think.

Lucie
Yarn: Unsure yet. I may swatch to see if I can do it with the big pile of Elsebeth Lavold's Silky Wool I have left over from Eris - that would be drop-dead gorgeous. *ponder* Could be - Lucie's gauge is 7st/inch, and Eris' gauge was 6st/inch. Must experiment.

Serrano
Yarn: Another option for the Silky Wool. Still pondering. Also 7st/inch gauge.

I've picked my next three knitting projects. In no particular order:

1. WLD's Easy Lace Duster in KnitPicks Merino Style, probably in Coal. I've had this pattern for a year or two, and haven't gotten around to it.

2. WLD's Milinda pullover in either Main Line in Cocoa or Andean Silk in Leaf - I need to play with both of them and see which I like better.

3. Reid from Knitty, as my donation to [livejournal.com profile] pixelwench's fundraising auction. I'm having a hard time with the yarn for this one though - I want something machine-washable, as nobody with a kid wants to have to worry about hand-washing laundry, and even though the yarn used in the original is 100% cotton, it says it's hand-wash-only. I tried Shine, but didn't get anywhere near gauge. Shine Worsted SAYS it gets the right gauge, so I'll order a ball or two of that and give it a try - if that doesn't work though, I dunno what to use. (Shepherd Sock got gauge, and the color variants looked really neat in the lace, but it's a little pricier than I had wanted.

I have to order the yarn for all three now - I expect I'll probably order all the yarn for the duster first, as I've got some Merino Style around and have already been able to swatch for it, but the other two I need to order tester yarns for.
