I told a coworker that I'm going on a multi-generational family trip to Disneyworld. She said, "Oh, that's exciting! Are you going to make matching t-shirts? "The Whatever Family"?"

This would be a very amusing idea, except for one tiny little problem:

Among the ten people going on this multi-generational family trip, there are seven different last names.

It's going to be my gran and her beau, my mom and dad, me, Joyce, my brother, my brother's wife, and my brother's stepkids. My mom, dad, brother and SIL all have the same last name.

But my gran and I have different last names because of marriages, Gran's beau and Joyce have different ones because they're not actually formally related to us, one of the kids has their mom's maiden name for a last name, and the other kid has their bio-dad's last name. And I can't actually remember which kid has which last name. (I keep hearing that my brother plans to adopt both kids, at which point they will take his last name, but I don't know when that's going to happen.)

I am sort of ridonkulously excited today.

This year is going to be AWESOME.

Impending awesome:

CANADA with Heather and Brian
IPHONE because Joyce indulges my silly love for small electronics
VEGAS with Joyce, Ari, and my mom and dad
GRADUATION oh hai thar associate's degree
ORLANDO AND DISNEYWORLD AND SEA WORLD AND UNIVERSAL STUDIOS ZOMG with Joyce and four generations of my family
INDY VISIT and CON and OH FRABJOUS DAY
JOYCE VISIT and WEDDING at which, to clarify, neither Joyce nor I are getting married

THIS IS GOING TO BE SO COOL

until my caps lock button breaks off

and then it will be cool in lowercase with big font.

No caps lock buttons were actually harmed in the squeeing of this post. It is however probably a good thing that I can't remember how to make my text blink.

Crossposted from FB because I am feeling warm and fuzzy:

I am Ginger, daughter of Sharon, granddaughter of Shirley. I am granddaughter of Jean, niece of Joy, cousin of Mariah, sister of Erin. I am glad to call Michelle my sister and Jade my niece. I am part of a line of awesome, powerful, amazing women, and I am proud of them all.

As part of my Christmas gift to my parents, I wanted to get them small gift cards to restaurants they eat at regularly - Bob Evans and Finley's American Grill. (They go out to lunch after church with people like, every Sunday.) Both places are on the list of gift cards available through a fundraiser the Rainbow girls perpetually do, so I just ordered them through that fundraiser rather than ask my brother to pick them up for me. We have neither restaurant here, and it makes no sense to order $20 worth of gift cards to be sent to me for $6 shipping just so I can turn around and mail them back.

However, when I picked up the fundraiser gift cards on Thursday, I had the Bob Evans one and ... a cash refund for the Finley's one. Apparently they stopped participating in the deal or something.

So I totally just drew a pair of glasses with a false nose and mustache on a card, folded the cash into it, and wrote "Finley's gift card - in disguise!" in it. :)

So there's this 30-day meme thing going around. Some of the days will hit things I am not overly comfortable with, I think, but we'll see.

Day 1: Introduce yourself )

I am a lucky girl. I claim more brothers than any girl has a right to, and I cherish them all dearly.

Just sayin'.
