What the hell. Continuation of timeline:

Where last we left off.
June 21: Still no box. In fact, still no tracking number or shipping notification. (I paid for priority mail, so if it went out on June 17th, it should have been here within 3 business days, which would be yesterday.)

I sent an email reiterating this timeline. Hopefully there will be reasonable results. Especially since the shopkeeper posted on her blog about how some of her orders had been incorrect and she was beating herself up over it.

Monday, June 23, noonish: I received an email from the shopkeeper.

You're right to be unhappy. I have not done well by you, in many ways. I'll go into PayPal, pull your information, and see what's going on. I'll get back to you by the end of the day.

I apologize that your order's been such a mess.

Couple small problems here. First, this indicates that she really didn't send anything out on the 17th as she so abruptly informed me she would. Second, If she "goes into PayPal" and "pulls my information", she'll probably end up sending the box to the wrong address. Again. Third, apparently "by the end of the day" does not mean to her the same thing that it means to me.

Today, June 25: Because she STILL has not "gotten back to me." This is getting beyond stupid. I send:

By the end of the day. Lovely.

I'm going to assume at this point that my corrected order did not in fact go out on the 17th - *over a week ago* - like you said it would.

This is quickly surpassing ridiculous, considering that you've made comments on your store blog and your LJ about how much of a perfectionist you are and how every error you've made in shipping orders is like a stab to the frontal lobe. [Ed: That's a direct quote, by the way.]

I'd like my money for this order refunded, please. If a refund has not been issued by Friday afternoon, I'll be disputing the transaction with PayPal.

Good luck with your business.

Problem is, I don't know if disputing anything with PayPal will actually work, since she did ship a box to the order on my PayPal account, and even though she had confirmed to me via email that she would send it to a different address, I don't know if PayPal will look at it and go "Well, she sent it to an address listed on your account and you got it there, so tough beans." (And I can't simply sent the one I did get along instead, because it's perishable, plus I already opened it because she told me she'd be sending out another one three weeks ago. Though if I'd known the shopkeeper was going to fuck up my order this bad, I would've just bloody well taken it along on the plane with me.)

Edit: She was remarkably quick about processing my refund, at least.

She also claims that the re-delivered box went out on the 18th, but there was no tracking number or shipping notification because she took it to the post office rather than shipping it via PayPal. Never mind that I didn't get a tracking number or shipping notification when she sent the first one via PayPal either. Whatever. It's done, I got my money back, and I'm just sorta bummed that my braintwin did not get her treats.

Huff puff.

Timeline.

Early May: I ordered a box of X from an up-and-coming internet shop to be delivered to Someone. I knew that the X wouldn't be shipped until late May, but the website assured me that I would get a tracking number when it was ready to be shipped.

June 6, morning: I realized I had never gotten the shipping notification. I emailed the proprietor of the shop to ask about it, and got an email in reply that told me that all orders would be delivered before Wednesday. Still not a tracking number, but okay.

June 6, afternoon: I get home from work to find the box of X on my desk, even though I had asked that it be shipped to Someone Else in Another State.

Email:
Apparently there was a mixup - I ordered a [box of X] during your sale #3 at the beginning of May and paid via PayPal (transaction ID: blah) from this email address. Immediately after submitting payment, I emailed you and asked that the box be sent not to my address (which is listed on my PayPal account), but to [Someone Else] in [Another State], as it was a gift to her. You replied that it wouldn't be a problem and you'd make a note of the correct address.

However, today I received a lovely box of [X] here in Washington at my address, meaning that my friend will not get her gift from me.

What can we do about this?

Response:
Argggh. We can call me an idiot?

Please send me her address again, and I'll send her the [X]. Consider the ones you received as a gift to you to apologize for my incompetence.

Okay, cool. I like X's too, and hey, everyone makes mistakes.

So. Time passes.

June 17: The Someone Else has not yet received her box of X. I know, because I'm HERE. There has been excited mailbox-checking with no results. I send email:

What is the status on the redelivered [X], please?

and get response:

They'll be going out today.

.... Okay, wait. We established that you screwed up and they were misdelivered ELEVEN DAYS AGO - that's almost two weeks - and the corrected box isn't going out til today? Well then.
